Our Congress has done us a great disservice…  again.

Last Friday afternoon, when everyone was worried about Michael Jackson’s death, Iowa’s 5 Congressional Representatives voted right down party lines to eventually pass the American Clean Energy and Security Bill (H.R. 2454).  The break down is like this:

The best place I’ve found to track the travesty that is taking place in D.C. is at GovTrack.us GovTrack will allow you to follow specific representatives and/or bills and sends you emails about what is going on.

I urge you to do some research on the Cap & Trade Bill (American Clean Energy and Security Act) that the House passed last week and help to educate your friends and family on what exactly this is…  a huge transfer of power as well as a huge tax on everyone.  I highly doubt that any of our representatives read this bill in it’s entirety…  there was a 300 page amendment added to the bill at 3 am the day of the vote…  That right there should be reason enough to boot our representatives out of a job…  that just pisses me off…  we send these people to D.C. to do a job, to represent us, to make a good faith effort to do what we the will of the people want…  and they can’t even read the bill that they are voting on??

Contact your Senator by every means possible and tell them that this is not a good idea…  that we will remember, and we will find replacements when and if needed when the time comes. The Senate will now take this bill up, tear it apart, change it (for better or worse), and most likely eventually vote on it.  Contact these guys and tell them you don’t want it:

I’m not much for fighting the machine, but I, and I believe others, have reached a point of discontent that will not be silenced any more.

I’m linking to some sites that have been of interest to me lately on the right hand column and encourage you to read, learn, and become engaged.  The people that are ruining (I mean running) our government, have forgotten what their jobs are…  It’s time to remind them.

We’re going to be at the Tax Day Tea Party in Iowa City on the 15th, and I encourage you to find a local Tea Party and join in.  Below are some ideas for some signs that I’ve found on other web sites…  Come up with your own too…  it isn’t that hard right now…  there’s plenty to gripe about.
