Recently, I found this video that, albeit one sided and I hope, overly dramatic, is on the right track.

Looking briefly at the two versions of the bills and from what I’ve heard…  they are a mistake for this country.  The backroom deals that were made to get the magic 60 votes needed to take a final vote in the Senate, were, I believe, illegal.  Even if the majority of people thought that this was a good idea, this is not the way to go about getting the laws changed to reflect that. 

Well, can you say bigger and bigger government and intrusion into your life???  I can, HR3962_ObamaCare.

Click on HR3962_ObamaCare and take a look at the nearly 2000 page version of the bill that passed the House of Representatives on Saturday, 11-7-2009.  I’ll update it as newer versions become available, but nothing I have (or you have for that matter) will be current….  (this version was obtained from http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf )

Last Friday afternoon, when everyone was worried about Michael Jackson’s death, Iowa’s 5 Congressional Representatives voted right down party lines to eventually pass the American Clean Energy and Security Bill (H.R. 2454).  The break down is like this:

The best place I’ve found to track the travesty that is taking place in D.C. is at GovTrack.us GovTrack will allow you to follow specific representatives and/or bills and sends you emails about what is going on.

I urge you to do some research on the Cap & Trade Bill (American Clean Energy and Security Act) that the House passed last week and help to educate your friends and family on what exactly this is…  a huge transfer of power as well as a huge tax on everyone.  I highly doubt that any of our representatives read this bill in it’s entirety…  there was a 300 page amendment added to the bill at 3 am the day of the vote…  That right there should be reason enough to boot our representatives out of a job…  that just pisses me off…  we send these people to D.C. to do a job, to represent us, to make a good faith effort to do what we the will of the people want…  and they can’t even read the bill that they are voting on??

Contact your Senator by every means possible and tell them that this is not a good idea…  that we will remember, and we will find replacements when and if needed when the time comes. The Senate will now take this bill up, tear it apart, change it (for better or worse), and most likely eventually vote on it.  Contact these guys and tell them you don’t want it:

I’m not much for fighting the machine, but I, and I believe others, have reached a point of discontent that will not be silenced any more.

I’m linking to some sites that have been of interest to me lately on the right hand column and encourage you to read, learn, and become engaged.  The people that are ruining (I mean running) our government, have forgotten what their jobs are…  It’s time to remind them.

We’re going to be at the Tax Day Tea Party in Iowa City on the 15th, and I encourage you to find a local Tea Party and join in.  Below are some ideas for some signs that I’ve found on other web sites…  Come up with your own too…  it isn’t that hard right now…  there’s plenty to gripe about.

I gave KD the choice of skiing or snowboarding, and she decided to snowboard this time, and ski the next time we get to go. She did a fantastic job for the first time out… and had a good time doing it. I was a little worried about how much new powder there was to deal with… but turns out it was just about perfect for where we were on the bunny hill… enough to keep the speed down and provide a little bit of padding for the expected falls.

Check the trail map out and notice the black arrow on the right side pointing to  one of the smallest lifts on the hill and the least intimidating hill on the mountain…  that’s where we spent the whole evening.
